Are there any cats in the vicinity? I find that watching cats can be like watching a lava lamp.

On our way back, while we were driving, I noticed that, the streets were free of people walking (I think I saw 3 whole humans on a 7 mile drive), and there were very few cars. Also, every single house had no lights on, and no sign of human actvity inside. I just cannot help but wonder what the locals do in the evenings/weekends....

Are you absolutely certain you've not landed, somehow, in the midst of an alien invasion? This all sounds terribly similar to the "Invasion of the Body Snatchers".

Have you notice large, pod-like things lying around? Or perhaps a subtle change in behavior from your partner?

Worcestershire? Have you tried the local sauce? Just a practical tip: Aliens like cats for dinner, so if there are any cats, it's probably not an alien invasion.

I instantly assumed that he is not with a woman there

Who calls a woman "my partner"?
Then I read "my girlfriend" and yet I am still not convinced.

The word "girlfriend" in the first post led me to that belief. Bouji: If the aliens don't show, you could always eat some ***** yourself. Tends to cheer things up a bit.

Thanks guys, the responses provided some entertainment to me!

My day went as follows:

Woke up at 11am ish
Girlfriend brought me crossaint, juice and coffee
Lay in bed, chatted, let to futher things
Took a steam, shaved, showered etc. Put on a suit to try to look like something might actually be happening... by this time it is 2.30pm
Girlfriend tried to get me back into bed, I did not give in, we went to the grocery store, bought Salmon, Pottatoes, and Asparagus, and a bottle of Beaujolais.
Found a few roads where I could push my car to the limits, after about 10-15 minuites of my girlfriend whining at me, that I would get pulled over by (non-existant) police, and would 'kill us both' I decide to give in and head back to the house.
We make a hollindaise sauce, and cube the pottatoes and roast them. Have the bottle of Beaujolais, and watch Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind.
We then cook the Salmon in butter, grill the asparagus, there is a bottle of Chablis, which we open and eat dinner.
We return to the bedroom.... after that it is now only 9pm... and she is asleep... what fun!

Maybe in the culinary sense and the other sense; poach the salmon before poaching them, as it were. Can one tickle them, or is that only trout?

I would be afraid to tickle a salmon. Rather significant teeth.

And bouji, just enjoy the respite from the concrete jungle. There are certain supplies you could have brought with you that would have made sitting 'round a house and/or going on country walks much more enjoyable, though...
