Boot outer sole/welt gets scuffed so easily, any preventative ointments etc?

Hello, newbie question: I've started wearing my newish boots (C+J Islay) for work, which is basically on photography/film sets where you simply can't avoid knocking your toes against things. Also just out and about, I get scuffs on the sole/welt so quickly. Image attached is after two days. I guess I'm used to rubber which doesn't show up scuffs so quickly. I was wondering if leather dye just on the welt would prevent the light leather colour showing through so quickly? I only occasionally need them for more formal purposes and would polish them about once every month or two if it wasn't for the welt getting so scuffed after a couple of days.

Edge dressing is made to cover up scuffs like that. It will get scuffed off, just like anything else, if you knock your shoes around, but it’s a temporary solution. Other than that, accept reality and love your scuffs as the scars of your profession that they are.

Great, I don't mind my boots evolving over time, I just want the welt colouring to be more durable than it is currently, which is basically not at all. Thanks for the tip!
