At 39, am I too old to be wearing black Nike Killshot 2 sneakers?

Honestly, sometimes it's better to be super clear like that. Like my "Female Body Inspector" hat I wear when I take my dates to Applebees.

I've softened my stance on sneakers within the past year.

I just ordered a pair of Killshot 2s with the white swoosh. I haven't bought a pair of sneakers since I ordered two pairs for running when I was 30. I'm 42 in July, so not replacing them is evidence that I don't do a lot of running.

I'm firmly in the camp that these sneakers are fine for men of my age. I also recently got white Adidas Sambas.

It's about how you carry yourself whether you can pull off any outfit. I'm relatively fit and active even if I don't run - I'm more about plyometric and martial arts training in barefeet. I feel like a man in my early 30s and I look good, so why do I need to "dress my age?"

As a member of the bar, I'm in a suit most days in the office and I have a modest collection of oxfords to wear both formally and casually.

For the spring and summer, I just don't like loafers or boat shoes. When wearing shorts, I like the convenience of flip flops.

I'll add that I'm late to parenthood and now have a 19 month old and 1 month old. Sneakers make more practical sense to me. Being conscious of style means that I've opted for these versatile white sneakers that allow me to chase after my kids well into my 50s, thank you. I'm a dad now, but why do I need to dress like a dad?
