is he in your employ? what are the costs of his pants?

Salvatore Ambrosi is a bespoke trouser maker who works for his family company, which specialises in making bespoke trousers. He's had regular trunk shows at The Armoury store in Hong Kong. As far as I'm aware, I think that he charges 1000 Euro for a pair of trousers.

Salvatore will be visiting the NY store 4 - 5 times a year. Prices are $1,100 for CMT and $1,250 for books.

Rusty: What's with the orange?
Saul: My doctor says I need vitamins.
Rusty: So why don't you take vitamins?
Saul: You come here to give me a physical?

Delivery time is obviously dependent upon whether or not you've already ordered from Salvatore and how many fittings you require if you haven't.

We've been very satisfied with Salva meeting deadlines when he says he will. If you still have any hesitations please feel free to reach out to us directly over email or phone.

So does he have a firmer delivery time since he's working through a reputable store now? :foo:

whether or not you've already ordered from Salvatore...

I have to assume that's exactly what you're paying for if you've already ordered from Ambrosi and he has your pattern.

If you look at the markup as insurance of sorts, it almost makes sense. Almost.

Um no, no it doesn't. At these prices Rubinacci is cheaper...

At those prices, you have to ask yourself if there is any benefit versus using your existing tailor. There may be more handwork versus what you'd get from most non-Italian tailors, but if you already use a top Italian tailor (which you shouldn't mind paying for if you are willing to pay $1,200 for trousers), chances are the trousers he makes for you are quite comparable. My Rubinacci trousers, for example, are very similar to Ambrosi's.

It is not a ridiculous price for bespoke trousers, but I don't think anyone can argue that the value proposition has totally changed.
