I own a few pairs of Alden's Indy. I have never tried the Freeport. Initially I didn't care for the aesthetic of the boot, so I'll never own a pair. I'm sure it's a fine boot, but if I don't like the look the battle is already lost. Same deal with Grant Stone's Brass Boot. I'm sure it is a great boot, just not a fan of the look.

I agree 100% on the GS Brass Boot...While I have many GS that I love, the aesthetic of the Brass just doesn't do it

You've clearly not seen the marbled burgundy, navy, or chili.
Wait, are you saying there's a Marbled Navy and Marbled Chili??? AE needs to keep the Marbled Shell offerings since those are super unique, especially on footwear. I've seen Ashland Leather make some Marbled Shell wallets, but that's about the extent to which I've seen Marbled Shell offered outside of footwear.

Compared to Florsheim, every Gunboat is just an imitator.

Not so fast, Kemosabe.
It's not a fair comparison to put up a vintage Florsheim LWB to a modern Allen Edmond gunboat.

I think if you were to compare similar time-frame, vintage contestants, the margin between the 2 would be much smaller.

Or, for ***** & giggles, compare a modern Florsheim to a modern Macneil and see where that lands.

My wife went to her doctor yesterday for a follow-up. She is still anemic and her hemoglobin is only a little better than when she was released from the hospital. The doctor doesn’t want her going to work for the next few weeks — at least until after Labor Day. Hopefully she continues to show improvement.

I was holding out some hope that I might find a way to order those purple Strandmoks. With her missing that much work (and those paychecks), I’m pretty sure that’s not going to happen now.

I went with the suede Neumoks today. I wonder how these would look if I tried to dye them purple….

We all feel for you shoe brother. I'm sure it will all work out and she will be right as rain soon. As to the purple Standmoks, worst case pick up some light colored Strandmoks down the road and have them dyed. Then they will be even more unique.

I interrupt this conversation to bring you shoes wives are embarrassed to see them being worn in public. They make great tile cutting shoes, though 🤣 View attachment 1823006

Can I get those in a marbled shell at the November trunk show?
