Pretty much anything you bought in shoes in 2019. Non-AE shoes are fine to include. But no Cole Haan, please.

I’m struggling to believe I only bought two pairs or footwear this year, but I guess that’s where I’m at in the cycle. One AE and one Alden. Super happy with both of them, so that’s nice. Pretty disappointed a bourbon Dundee didn’t make it in there, but I’m so deep in mid to dark brown shoes and boots, I just couldn’t do it.

I'm probably The only one here that loves the AE and is meh about the Alden.

I can dig it. I also can’t get over how well that HM worked out. I can’t find one errant thread or stitch on it, and I got pretty lucky with the sizing. And if I’m being picky, the tanker has a few things (loose speed hook, uneven eyelet spacing) that would have brought out the internet pitchforks if it was an AE boot.

Guess what guys, it's that time of year. It's about time to post your year in review posts. I look forward to seeing them.

My request: accompany the year-in-review with each of your respective forecasts from January 2019.

Spoiler alert: I started the year very much on track with my plans. Then it got weird.

15 AE, 7 Alden, 1 Carmina, 1 C&J slipper. I'll do a picture detail later.

I will also post pictures later in the year. I only counted 7 AE received (1 on the way in 2020), and 1 pair of Alden.

AE:
Nuemok - olive
McTavish - natural
Park Ave - merlot (vintage 2002)
Wilbert - brown (from Dabondo)
Porter - green (was a gift from some fine gentleman on this board)
Strand - green shell
University - walnut (almost forgot about this one!)

on the way...

Strand - bourbon shell (at the AE mothership)

Alden:
9501 - natural

Biggest regret:
Not winning the bid on that new natural Higgins on Ebay that sold for $108.

And this is precisely why there are many shoe/boot companies! AE is a good company, many of the things are still made in PW, I just had bad luck this year, but I would put PA's up against anyones shoes. Keep the flame going!

I wrote something in the 2018 thread (I think) about potential purchases and targets, and I’m a little afraid to go back and read it. Only thing I remember for sure is that my desire for a “black boot” turned into at least one shell black boot and one waxed black HM. Pretty much tripled my target price on that one. V cool.

Those are both seriously nice acquisitions. Well done!

Is it wrong that I was hoping you'd have outpaced me in 2019, especially considering TWO trunk shows? I've sold off quite a few, but picked up plenty in 2019 turning my collection over substantially. Rough count of 36 acquisitions in 2019 so far.:eek2:

I understand your surprise at the lack of interest as I for one really like the MacNeil and anticipated accumulating more. After all, it was an unpurchased wingtip from another manufacturer that initially ignited my newfound interest that started me on this delightful journey of AE shoe acquisition.
To date, four LWB's are in my possession; a pre-owned MacNeil in burgundy, one new Mac in oxblood calf, a vintage Florsheim Imperial in tan (93602) one vintage Florsheim Imperial in black (92604).
Pretty lucky to have those as it is, especially the latter two (though I guess now all Mac's are destined for the "rare find" category) and I'll be fine if that's where it all ends but also will still be looking for what may come along in my size, 10.5 3E.
It's just a nice style of shoe and one that actually fits, besides which I see even more of my dad, who always wore Florsheims in the same style and size, in me when I wear them and understand more now his particular stride as you don't so much "walk" in them as you "lumber", while pitying the poor fool who may choose to get in their way. lol.

Here below is my albeit small but still All-Star, LWB lineup in order of acquisition. And I'm happy to know I'm not alone in saying, I do really value this style. View attachment 1298248
