They were discontinued in calf. Supposedly to return at some point on a different last.
Navy MacNeil with natty welt showed up yesterday, here they are after swapping out the black (?) laces they shipped with:
I was a bit nervous never having tried the 97 last, but the fit is fine and the shoes are perfect.
However, as you can see the box label clearly says BUR CRDVN rather than NAVY. Since I store my AEs in their boxes I'm afraid I will notice this every time I pull them out.
Return or keep? (Weasels in size 9.5 E need not reply - I already know your answer
Let's say you had an interview, and could wear any shoe except a black PA or FA (or Hopkinson). For the suit, assume the standard navy or gray.
What would you choose?
Yours looks way better than my $157 Cornwallis. I received mine last week, open the box pulled out one and thought what a beautiful shoe for the money. Then pulled out the other one. Eek, it was so "tiger stripped" it looked like a totally different shoe. I should have returned it but decided to strip them down and put my spin on them. Do they look like a million bucks now ? Not by a long shot but they look a little better... I think.. I used a mix of bourbon and walnut . Im half temped to strip then again and try dying them . Ignore the blue laces.

Those look pretty good. I actually like the blue laces, though it makes the shoe slightly more casual. It's funny I think we ordered at the same time. The lady said that she had another call for bourbon corns and she had only 2 left. That must have been you lol.
Maybe you're right AF, we'll see what happens. As for colored laces, tried em' but just didn't like em. Except tan of course. JDefinitely that. Give 'em time; maybe get some different colored laces for them? I have red ones in mine right now (but also have green, green/yellow, purple, and I think orange) and you'd be amazed how much a different colored lace can really turn them into a totally different shoe. Don't give up on them just yet!
Look, ma! Non undershirt! I've got to say that this feels both strange and wonderful at the same time.
Snuff Suede Fullertons today. It's been a couple weeks.

#teamfullerton!
Did you drop the undershirt completely or finally switch to a v-neck?
For years I've worn cheap Haines comfort slim fit Vs. They work for what I need, but seems they no longer make them. I am not at a point where I can justify high dollar undershirts, but would love to replace them with something soft, slim fit, deep necked and perhaps gray or tan so the shirt-to-skin contrast doesn't show under lighter button ups.
Whatcha say peeps, any suggestions?
