Was pleasingly surprised to find the Sears at Eaton Centre in Toronto actually featuring many world-class designers and even Tommy Bahama. Very attractive place and the former Eaton's. I didn't even think to search for areas Sears is so noted for as its own niche, such as hardware; I'll assume one has to go elsewhere, like perhaps all the other Sears' around Toronto and their specialized hardware outlets.
Where are there other Sears' like this? I'd say it looked a lot like our Cleveland Nordstrom's, though one dept. I went to was shoes and I didn't find this particular Sears area that inspiring. But again - many departments with the "big name" designers, etc. It was no Holt Renfrew but then few are.
So it happens just at the moment we were in Toronto they announce in the media about the great Brooks Brothers coming to Canada and Toronto later this year. I'm guessing if they open only one now it will be either in the financial district around King or Wellington and York or Bay, or around Bloor Street West. Sort of a toss-up. Perhaps both? Quite amazing it's taken that long; I don't believe there's all that tremendous competition to Brooks Brothers there - not considering all its facets.

I wouldn't even dream of putting Tommy Bahama in with the term "world-class designers"

I was waiting for a comment like that....
I happen to like TB a great deal.... Anyway that Sears does have many "world class designers." So there!
I'll bet you don't even care for the type of camp shirt TB is famous for. If you do, which brand do you prefer and why?

Believe it or not, this has been discussed before. Apparently Sears in Canada are generally at a much higher level than Sears in the United States, and the downtown Toronto one is the best of the bunch.

Maybe the downtown Toronto location is better than US stores, but the ones in the rest of the country are not.

I was under the impression that Canadian Sears is a completely different company than U.S. Sears.

I was under the impression Lafont is a time-wasting troll, but there you are.

I also think that the Eaton Centre Sears absorbed the former Eatons store and as such, kept a similar format in terms of merchandising, etc.

Name these World-Class designers so that we can evaluate. Thomas H. Bahama II is of course top notch.

What other world-class designers did you see there?
Sergio Georgini?
