I have a connection in Afrika that has 50s and 60s Borsalino hats. I was wondering what the worth of those hats could be? I checked ebay and the modern hats are sold for a cheaper price, but i was thinking there could be a vintageworth to the hats.

The hats are stored in round cardboard boxes to maintain the integrity of the shape of the hats.

Anyone here who knows how much i could get for them here in Europe? or if shipped to America?

Maybe there would be an interest from elderly Italians?

Borsalino remains a well regarded brand in hats.

Don't know about the vintage market.

On ebay, the vintage market is soft, but the Borsalino market in general is strong.

It also depends on the style and size of the hats, of course.

Do you have any pictures?

If in good condition, and considering the style, you could definitely sell them. Of course, you would have to figure in shipping them all to the US or Europe as no one would buy them shipping from Africa, I'd suspect.

They poorer quality started in the early 80s and has not stopped. If this is not some kind of scam, those hats would do very well on ebay. Would love to see pictures.

Sorry dont have any pictures... next time im over there ill make shure to gets lots of pictures from diffrent angles so i can see how the interest is on e-bay and such.

The story behind this is that my aunt used to work for a Italian elderly man that owned an import/export shop in Asmera, Eritrea. The man died a couple of years ago and left everything to her and my cousin(her son). I remembered when i was over there my cousins friend brought over a poster of Juventusplayers and coach marketing Borsalinohats. I figured if they are willing to market it, it should be a pretty decent brand since Italians are known for being picky with brand and quality.

Anywho ill be off to Africa again in a year or 2 and hopefully the value wont decrease to much... will problably buy some and see how many of them i can make a profit of in Sweden or over the Internet.

Thanks for your help.

P.S Im also investigating the potential antique value of some medals from diffrent centurys i found. Medals and Coins that im shure some collector would find an interest in. Ex: Medal from 14xx or 15xx from France or Italy. (Everyone wanted a pieace of the african continent).

The remains of fallen invading soldiers with greed in their eyes will put a sparkle in a modern kapitalist young man.

Send Lucky Strike a PM. Don't know if he only deals with artwork, but if so I'm sure he can put you in touch with someone to help out on the coins.
