Glen plaid by Scabal: opinions?

I dropped by TepDoc's favorite Upper East Side hotel today and saw this lovely cloth. It's a 10 oz. flannel (worsted, I think). I'm envisioning it for a double-breasted suit. Any opinions or experience with Scabal Masterclass cloth? Any other suggestions for a similar glen plaid? It doesn't have to be flannel.

Note that it isn't a black-and-white glen plaid, but dark brown or black with cream.

It's kind of muted for SF, isn't it? Or, on second thought, maybe not. Most of these plaids go the other way: more contrast in the base colors and less in the overcheck. That's going to have quite a windowpane on it.

I do like it, though.

I like the thick overplaid, but think that sort of thing is better for a sportcoat. I think a suit would look nicer without the overcheck or with a simpler one.
Definitely like the idea of DB.

I was looking for a bolder base plaid, but this overcheck is strikingly bold. I also like the off-white coloring. Looks vintage-y (I hate that I'm describing it that way, but there it is).

For me, the pattern is too subtle and the cloth too fine for use in an odd jacket.

I do not like it

The light blue windowpane is too bold and overwhelms the glen plaid POW pattern

Besides, for New York wear, I would desire a heavier cloth.

Have you considered the London Lounge's Sicilian POW instead?

I did not initially like it, but its slight hue of brown is slowly growing on me...and its about 4-5 ounces heavier

The fabric looks very nice, but I agree with Dopey that it strikes me as sport coat-ish because of the thickness of the overstripe.

I agree. I was only commenting on the thick overplaid, which would look better on a sportcoat than a suit.

Ideal sporty suit cloth using this kind of pattern would be a larger and slightly higher contrast check, with no overplaid. I think the LL cooper plaid was like that, but I am sure there are others. I have the Cooper cloth - don't now why I haven't gotten to it yet.
I have a few glen plaid suits in a more muted pattern, like yours, each with a finer overplaid than your example. They are not so snappy looking, which I is why I prefer them. But that is just preference.

I originally thought of something heavier, but I figure flannel wears warmer than its weight in a worsted and I'd prefer to have something wearable into the spring.

I'd love to see some heavier examples, though. I'd be interested to see bolder, bigger plaids with finer overchecks. Part of the reason I like this particular cloth is that it's shade of blue errs toward green rather than lavender. I hate purple-ish blues.

I'm scared of ordering a suit length of LL cloth for something like this because I'm so particular about the exact coloring.

No, I hear you. I would love to see something in a similar color scheme, but with a bolder base plaid.

For what it's worth, Luca was wearing the same pattern cloth in black/white plaid with a red overcheck and the overall effect was subtle enough.

Carlo Barbera has a light brown and blue windowpane. It would probably make a better odd jacket than a suit, too.

That Barbera cloth looks really pretty, but that's much, much bolder than the Scabal cloth I posted. In my estimation, you could only use that for an odd jacket.

I think the red overcheck you can see in the bottom right corner of the last pic is much subtler. That blue really jumps out at you.

Foo- I'd been holding that exact cloth aside for an od jacket. It's gorgeous in person and has a nice hand.
