  • Epaulet x Styleforum Alpine Loden Collection

Loden wool, woven in Tirol for centuries, is known for its resistance to cold and wetness. Our project in collaboration with Epaulet introduces Alpine Loden, a modern 18oz fabric blend of 75% merino wool and 25% nylon, woven in Italy. It's lighter, more durable, wind-resistant, and more comfortable than traditional Loden fabric. Partnering with Rochester Tailored Clothing, we offer custom garments like sportcoats, suits, and overcoats, made to your specifications. Shop the Loden collection here.

I bought this some time ago, but have only tried it on in the house once or twice; it has lain folded on a shelf in a dust-bag , unworn. I am selling because it does not go so well with my other clothing, and therefore I cannot justify the cost to myself. I rashly threw out the tags after purchasing it.

It is a beautiful garment, wonderfully dense, and the colour is exceptionally rich (with the final images being more representative of this) . The thick collar is especially delightful. I’m sure that the Drake’s website, and Simon Crompton’s glowing review on Permanent Style, will provide a more detailed description of the quality.

The size is ‘S’, but I am slightly over 6 feet tall, and it fits me well (to my untutored eye) on the shoulders and arms. It is relatively short in the body (perhaps similar in fit to a bomber jacket), as you can ascertain from the pictured measurements.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

Some quotations from around t'internet:

If you really want to shoot for the top, there’s no question: Drakes’ four-ply cashmere shawl. I think it was Jesse at Put This On who said it’s the sweater he wants to be buried in. Why wait till then. Sure with the current exchange rate it ends up being just over $1000, but we’re not talking about a budget play here. The thing is crazy thick, crazy soft, and looks like a million bucks. (Thesimplyrefined.com)

Far and away, the best cardigan is this cashmere piece from Drake’s, but it’s dearly expensive. If you can afford one, you have my envy. Otherwise, you can opt for more affordable materials, such as camel hair or lambswool... (The great dieworkwear.com)

I think good clothes are not just expressions of us, but over time define us. We feel odd without them. My Drake’s shawl-collar cardigan is one of these, and I look forward to wearing it - in sun and snow - for another seven years. (Permanent Style)

Thank you for looking.
