That pic does no justice to the Brandos; they look weak there. Once they get some wear and character, they really don't look all that boxy, but a hem of 8" is the bare minimum required for them.

Thanks guys, I'm figuring on a pair of brown Paul Smith boots at this point, all of your recommendations have been most helpful (with drizzts being the voice in my ear that confirmed what I had been considering.. ricards if I can find them).

Feel free to post other things, if you're tossed up.

I second the Ricards. I'm considering a pair myself, they are some very good looking boots. Those, imo, will look perfect with jeans, as does almost all PS shoes.

Wiru, the bean sole is a lot more classic, but I think the regular bean leather is rather dull. I recommend the bean boots in bison leather. I like the waxed canvas of the J.crews, but the rubber bottom just doesnt look as good.

Last years J.crew boots looked alot better, much cooler bottom.

Go with the original, the LL Bean Old Maine Hunting Boots! Why, a copy is just...a copy! You are better than that.

The LL Beans are cheaper, you can get shearling-lined ones, and above all, made in the USA.
