This may be a dumb question, but is there an alternate to Alden's Leather Defender?
It seems like it would be something they are getting private labeled, made by 3M or someone similar.
I agree, BK. I HIGHLY doubt that Alden makes it. It's probably something from Kiwi or similar.
When I use it, it smells like something familiar but I can't quite place it.
As long as eyelets are getting so much love today, these dropped at Epaulet a while back but didn't see them promulgated in the thread:
Smells like Armor All to me.
Possibly http://www.fransboonestore.com/So lets say I wanted to overpay for a pair of 9.5D or 10D Cigar boots - Jumpers, Cap Toe, Indy, whatever I could find. Where would I look? This might be a total newbie question, but I don't see anything on ebay or here. Is this just that rare that they rarely get listed and when they do they disappear?
Must be NST day for us.
I too, like the color variation in cap toe models...
However, if you do not prefer the variation, there is a simple way to even-out the light colored (almost pink) shade where color 8 shoes crease.
1) Wipe down with warm, damp cloth.
2) Apply very thin layer of color 8 paste wax to area and let sit for a couple of minutes.
3) Buff with soft cloth.
4) Apply another very thin layer of black paste wax to the area and let sit for a couple of minutes.
5)Buff with soft cloth and brush.
I have NOT done this to any of my color 8 shoes, but a local Alden dealer does this for customers who complain about the creasing and discoloration that comes with the creasing. They get good results and their customers come back for more shell!
Who makes the Cigar Chukka? Is that from ShoeMart? If so is it a style they replenish ever 6 years or so?
