Howdy, I'm looking to get a couple inexpensive dress shirts to send with my son to college (one white, one blue) plus a tie. Nothing special, just the ability to dress up if need be. So inexpensive is good. Easy-care and low-wrinkle is optimal.

I haven't bought a dress shirt in decades, and I have no idea what Kid These Days like to wear. So....

I saw an el cheapo Alfani Slim Fit Men's two-way stretch shirt at Macy's. Is stretch ok? I also saw a Nordstrom 100% cotton "Trim Fit" dress shirt. 100% cotton is nice for me, but no-iron is mandatory for him.

Anyway, $50 or under would be awesome. But I know there's a line where too cheap is too cheap.

Recommendations please. Thank you.

Charles Tyrwhitt at 3 shirts for $99 is probably the best value in menswear. Sturdy shirts, non-iron, no heartbreak if damaged or ruined. Just replace them. I had a fleet of tailored dress shirts, but all of my office shirts are now CT.
FWIW. I checked the site and it looks like all shirts (except one sale item) are priced at $99 each, and $59 each of you buy four.

ETA: Looks like I needed to find the coupon code.

Most brick-and-mortar CT locations will honor the 3 for $99 promo. Not sure where you are, but the CT at the World Trade Center still honors it.

If you can't get to a retail location, they're still good value at <$50 a pop. I don't think I would buy them for $59 apiece, however.
