Some pictures I took a few weeks ago.

You already know them by heart: the Alden LWB.

My first Whiskey LWB.

The right one nearly looks like Ravello. Probably because I brushed it a lot more than its sister - on the left (from my point of view).

I only used a damp cloth, a brush and a small spoon.

I just received a pair the other day, they are beautiful.  Notice how they fill in the larger perforation holes on the toe with a darker color.. amazing shoe!  Those jeans and socks with them look great too.... that's a rock solid casual outfit bra...

Thank you chipshot.

"Amazing" is definitely the word. Post pictures of yours if you can.

They'll do great for this fall.

The Context Roy boots look mighty nice, but I I definitely want a pair of boots before fall/winter, so February delivery is too late for me.

Not a fan of the crepe sole on those Roy's.  Otherwise, looks good.  I'm not sure if they would give you an option on soles.  I'd go dbl waterloc over crepe in a heartbeat.

Exactly. In fact, Nick over at B. Nelson is doing just that to my almost new (acquired in February, never wore because I hated the crepe sole) Roy's right now. I'll post pics when I get them back.

And the After. Still brushing and adding a bit of polish here and there to even out the finish, but came out pretty good. Tried to get close to a RL Marlow color:

Thanks...JT

Surprised no one said anything about this. Looks like a pretty good job, especially since you snagged a used pair off of ebay. Care to elaborate on the process? How long did it take, how did you handle getting dye into the perfs, and would you do it again upon seeing the results?

Nice shoes!!

Those look quite a bit darker than my whiskey LWBs - but such is the nature of shell.

That's funny you said that, I went through a size change, the first Whiskey's were much lighter than the second shipment.  Both are freaking drop dead beautiful and a nice break from Cigar and #8 in my wardrobe.

Before purchasing a pair of Alden shell boots I lurked this thread a bit and noted several QC issue people were having. After three months on the list for a pair, I finally received mine yesterday. Sadly there is a large blotch on the outer facing side of one of the boots that I can't believe made it out of the factory. The retailer is willing to give me a full refund, or, I can go back on the list and hope to get a new pair in January. I haven't decided yet what I'm going to do. They said this happens all the time and Alden responds by either attempting to repair the shoe, or they send it out for sale as a second. What they DON'T do is fast-track a replacement pair, which would seem to me to be the correct response; especially when you consider the degree of the defect. Anyways, I just wanted to post a pic below so there's a record of it. From what I've read, there's some disagreement as to whether or not there are quality control issues at Alden. Having felt the sting of a defective pair, and a 5 month wait for a new pair, I'd say there are:

Thanks!

They must have mixed up the Ravello and Whiskey secret recipes! biggrin.gif

I really like Whiskey - and especially this pair - since you can easily see the different color variations.

Relatively very dark on the point and lighter where it creases. Nothing new about this though.

I wish Whiskey weren't so rare to find, need more now.

That's bad for such a long wait...

You are - of course - right to return them.

I don't know how much you paid for them but I guess I'm not wrong to tell you that you will easily find another pair like these without waiting any longer.

I wouldn't wait nearly 6 more months for #8 jumper boots, at least if they don't have anything 'special'.

My 2 cents.

Sorry you got a bad pair. Where did you get them and what color are they? (I'm not asking to criticize the retailer, just wondering who's selling an all eyelet captoe boot.) Thanks!
