I have good news. You are as close as your nearest Burger King.

im not american but live in a western first world country and i personally didnt get enough nutrients. by that i mean, i logged everything i ate on a website and met my RDI for less than a quarter of the vitamins and minerals on the page. i ate fairly healthily and couldnt afford any more calories, so i increased my nutrient intake by reducing calory dense but nutrient poor foods (like grains) with fruit, vegetables and a little more animal fats. i then exceded my RDIs.

again, im only talking from personal experience here.

How about the annoying fatlards who are hanging around and ******** on this thread GTFO? Nobody wants you here, and your presence contributes nothing. It is abundantly clear that your fat bellies are causing you great pain, which causes you to lash out at your betters.

I have personal experience with intermitent paleo dieting. I sometimes eat things like raw salad or fruit. Also I have been known to eat raw nuts, legumes even.

Isn't inactivity the biggest contributor to weight gain? I mean, I (foolishly) feel proud of myself for walking to work, CVS, most bars and restaurants, and the movies. None of which are over a mile away. Fifty years ago, most people walked a hell of a lot farther than that in a day.

The Southern-fried diet was fine when we all did manual labor out in the fields. Now, it makes us all fatties.

Except me. 6'2", 165 lbs. bitches!!!!!!!!

I used to eat raw green beans all the time. Eventually my sphincter couldn't take it anymore.

It's three factors.

1. Total daily calorie intake.

2. Activity levels

3. Genetics.

The thing to remember is everyone is different. That's why some people can eat like pigs all day, hardly ever work out and stay in "shape," while other people can maintain a perfect diet, work out frequently and struggle to achieve the body they desire. You have to figure out what works for you and not directly compare yourself to others.

Science has consistently shown that a calorie is a calorie when it comes to weight loss or gain. Worrying about carbs, sugar or fat won't do you nearly as much good as watching your total calorie intake and exercising enough to burn the excess calories away.

The reason a lot of people loss weight when they start a diet like Paleo or Atkins is not because they cut out any type of "bad" food. It's because these diets are so restrictive in what you can and cannot eat, that the typical American ends up cutting out enough of their daily calorie intake to drop some excess weight.

ok, here's my take - I honestly believe that there is a lot of wisdom in the idea that we should eat the foods that we evolved eating - we evolved eating a lot of various vegetables, fruits nuts, raw grains, meat and fish. we didn't evolve eating a diet of 90% cooked refined grains, which is where most people were at 100 years ago. that said, I don't follow a paleo diet, but I try to eat very little processed foods, and not very much refined and processed grains. I think that being too fanatic about it isn't good, either. and I am not sure that it is the best tool for long term health or weightloss.

So just going to the store and buying fresh food is bad? Especially if I cook it?

Ding, ding, ding... we have a winnar! I know you hate big cities, however, there is a very good reason why people in big cities tend to be slimmer than their suburban counterparts (hint: walking instead of driving).
