The common American diet gets more then enough nutrients. There is little reason for the majority of people in our country, who are not too poor to afford food, to worry about this.
Just like paleo, what constitutes 'midstream' is up for debate.
I have personal experience with intermitent paleo dieting. I sometimes eat things like raw salad or fruit. Also I have been known to eat raw nuts, legumes even.
Isn't inactivity the biggest contributor to weight gain? I mean, I (foolishly) feel proud of myself for walking to work, CVS, most bars and restaurants, and the movies. None of which are over a mile away. Fifty years ago, most people walked a hell of a lot farther than that in a day.
