Is it just me or should that fold be reserved for solids, stripes and checks? I always think paisley should be puffed.

Regarding the ironing, I do have some squares that are hard to get the wrinkles out (not Kent's of course). I wonder if it's just cheaper material. But can they be ironed, or do you treat them like a tie?

Depends on the style. TV fold needs to be ironed, imo! Rule of thumb, iron them when you iron your clothes (of course, depending on the fabric)—how can you go wrong?!

By ironing the life out of them?

No, by ironing them once? If they are cotton they can be ironed—silk is another matter..!

JS1357: Those pictures are hilarious! He doesn't suit a wide lapel, at all! Those slippers, and the colour palettes, are pretty fly (if slightly too pointy [the navy ones, not the cobalt]—I hate pointy shoes, ******* elves)!

No need to slap yourself. I meant that you can ruin, or press the life out of, the handrolled and -sewn edges by ironing them. I guess you can iron around them, if that's what you mean.

Would you guys say a madras ps would be too informal for a summer wedding?

Not if you wear it with a tan or cream suit or blue blazer or colorful jacket. It might look odd with a dark navy suit in which case you would probably want a white linen square.

I agree.

I think there are two schools about dressing for weddings. One is that you should wear a formal suit, so navy or charcoal only. The other is that you should wear something more festive and colorful, like a cream suit or even a colorful sportcoat. I think almost all people these days will be delighted if you turn up with a coat of any kind, so I think the latter school is better and affords you the opportunity to wear a festive ensemble for the occasion.

That the wedding is in the summer adds further weight for the more informal option.
