Thanks and apologies for the continuation of thread derailment.

ShoeMart has #8 shell in both the gold and nickel buckle. Hmm, kinda wish I hadn't found that link.

Hmmm...do I detect some (albeit deserved) sarcasm here?
In my defense, I did check Shoe Mart a week or so ago and they did not have the wide belt in #8 with the nickel buckle.

there is an ebay seller with the BB shell belts, some black, some burgundy, for $100 ish. new. I have one I'm wearing right now! very nice. he had them a little while ago for $75 (!!)

the burgundy ones he has are either very short or very long, but I think you can cut the long one down

Same Horween Cordovan, so the comparison is down to execution, and if course, Canadian vs USA.
Close ups of an Alden Ravello. Typical among the five I own.

Am I the only one who thinks that a shell belt would look bizarre? Like your waist had some bizarrely shiny lining to it. Also is it really as flexible as the kind of soft calf used for a dress belt? EDIT: for baller belts, LS obviously has you covered: http://www.leathersoulhawaii.com/201...tor-belts-lsw/

The quality of shell is the same, but the construction of the BB belt is less nice. If you can take a look at how they join the three pieces of shell you'll see exactly why the Alden is nicer. I'm not sure it's $200 nicer (you can find the BB belts very cheap on sale), which is why I have a couple of each.

The Alden Cordovan belts are padded, so the apparent flexibility, or the lack of it, is not entirely due to the Cordovan itself. IMO, it has more to do with the choice of padding and construction.

I like those Alligators.

Jonesing for a pair of AF87 Rugged High Lace Boot from Alden of Carmel. But Adam says they are discontinued.

Anyone have an idea of what the closest thing is to that beautiful boot?

I match my cordovans with Alligator, but you can get very well constructed Alligator belts made in FL for just over $200.

Yeah, sure Tom's Ultimate Indy would have been a great choice too but with my weather here these get out a lot less so I went with these. There was no wrong answer!
