Yeah, I was thinking that was a pour that needed a tumbler. The glass can't do it's job when drowning in that much whisky.

I hear ya about the long week -- headed to the shop myself this weekend. Hope next week is calmer.

When and where did you find the Cocchi? This is the apertivo that is supposed to be remarkably similar to the original Kina Lillet recipe, correct?

One of my favorite ryes as well. If you haven't already, give the High West Rendezvous Rye a go.

Got it about a month ago -- had it ordered in. It has fairly wide distribution in the U.S. right now, since it debuted here about two years ago. http://www.wine-searcher.com/find/cocchi This notion of it resembling the original Kina Lillet seems pretty much to all reduce to an eGulleteer who had a bottle of both to try side by side, along with the general kernel of truth that Cocchi is a white wine quinquina. I can't really find much substantiation for that otherwise, nor can I find out if Kina was aged as much as the Cocchi is. To my palate, anyway, the Cocchi is very similar to the current Lillet blanc, except for how the quinine comes from behind and wipes that citrus-y honey and cilantro-esque sweetness right off your palate. I will say that it makes an excellent and very different CR#2. What I am having with it will affect which one I will want to have from now on. I've a cold so I haven't bothered trying the Vesper yet. ~ H

Still fighting this cold. Drinking a Gin Hot Toddy -- using Martin Miller's Westbourne. Probably shouldn't have sweetened it with honey, which made it too much like a Bee's Knees, which never worked for me. Otherwise, could be good.

I am planning tomorrow's toddy -- Compass Box Orangerie, Manderine Napoleon, bitters, cinnamon stick, no lemon.
