Did that one last year, wasn't super impressed. I really thought that Avec had more creative food, not to mention it was just better tasting.
I got a reservation at Joes for dinner...pretty stellar deal (for lunch or dinner).
Or you could head two blocks east and enjoy Blackbird's badass 3 course for $22 lunch deal.

haha, I still haven't done publican. Big star was a drunken night with nachos, so no comment there.
I had the $22 lunch. I'm almost 100% sure they skimp out for the restaurant week lunches because I've heard mildly positive reviews of Blackbird, but found my experience was mediocre. I was at Henri yesterday (same ppl as the gage) and that really impressed me...
...and I don't impress easily.

That's a great list of places. Only thing I would maybe change is swap Avec for either cafe spiaggia or topo. If I had to let go of one of those, I'd say FOR SURE cafe spiaggia. Just go to the Spiaggia dining room next time you're here. But you shouldn't miss Avec or Schwa.

Cafe spiaggia has always underwhelmed me but I go back trying to like it. Finally gave up on the place. Pane Caldo on Walton is a better deal for lunch or even Coco Pazzo.
Think I would prefer Frontera over Topo for lunch too.
Crofton on Wells is worth a visit.
