I honestly can't fathom spending $500 on dinner for myself. Hell, at this point I can't fathom having enough money to be able to spend $500 on dinner for myself.

Well my 4 figure one was because it was my grandfather's 90th birthday.

The $600 one was before the recession in 2007 when I had zero percent interest, unjustified bonuses, leveraging property on subprime mortgages and all sorts of wonders.

Kobe Japan-dinner for two-around $800 as I remember. Ah-kobe beef. I had to try it at least once in my lifetime.

I think it is as well. That said, a lot of people eat there and absolutely love it. Seems weird to me. It just strikes me as gimmicky, especially compared to Alinea.

That's where my "interest" works. They had a staff tasting and she said the food was pretty good, as well. I have reservations in a couple of weeks. They got a Bib Gourmand, though, so the odds of dropping half a bill are pretty small.
