Hmm, I dunno, might want to avoid public places, you know, just in case...

From our 'the knot' website. zip it, get engaged and you will understand.

We got engaged while visiting Chicago in April...we stayed at a beautiful hotel in downtown Chicago with an awesome view of the city.

The night we got into town, we walked to dinner at this fabulous little Italian restaurant called Quartinos...the food was amazing and the wine was even better! After a wonderful dinner, we started walking back to the hotel and I stopped on a bridge to take a picture of the city at night.

After taking the picture, Josh got down on one knee, with the ring in his hand, and proposed!! I was TOTALLY suprised, I had NO idea it was coming! After crying, and then crying some more, I was finally able to speak the words "yes"! It was the most amazing feeling, surreal, unbelievable experience I think either of us has had. I was so caught up in what had just happened, I hadn't even looked at the ring...Josh pulled it out of the box and put it on my finger...it was (is) the most beautiful ring I've ever seen. I kept uttering the words "I can't believe this is happening..." over and over!

We walked a few more blocks to this bar called Sweetwater and ordered a bottle of champagne to celebrate! I think the waitress was just as excited as we were about our news, it was a great way to celebrate. We started calling our family and friends (and posting on facebook of course) to tell them the good news. It was the best night of my life.

This video is amazing, I saw Yao and T-Mac in jerseys and the Rockets were winning. This happened during a Wizards game once. Just say yes, then say no the minute you get out of there.

When I was seventeen, I was hiking in SW Va and found a beautiful valley called Elk Garden (near Mt. Rogers/White Top/Damascus). I decided then that I would propose there. I hadn't even kissed a girl yet.

Nine years later, I proposed there. She said yes. Ten months later we split

Ruined what would have been a perfect story, but it worked out for the best.

In our patio room, while reading the Sunday morning paper over coffee. Except, she asked me. She was reading an article that the Bush tax cuts to remove the marriage tax penalty had been made permanent and would not sunset as originally planned.

clog the toilet with all sorts of filth and then place the ring on top of it...

tell her the crapper is clogged and she needs to fix it...

as she peers into the filth and sees a shinny ring hovering over it all she can only assume the world will be **** without you.

she will be swooned for sure.

In her home town, watching the fireworks a few seconds before midnight on New Year's Eve (there's a story behind that...)

You are a hopeless romantic. This almost brought a tear to my eye.

I was perfectly happy in my unmarried bliss but how could I refuse a woman like that?

Why, after 16 years, did you decide you wanted to get married rather than just being committed and together?

Good chance that I was there. For us it was in Churchill, Manitoba. We went during polar bear season for one night while visiting Canada. I waited until the main course was served at dinner before popping the question. The waiter saw the proposal being made and brought over some complementary champagne.
