I saw Tom Ford's movie "A Single Man" last week. It's a gorgeous movie with keenly polished visuals. The clothing of the main character is precise and done in a subdued color palette. As he laid out his burial clothes he specified on a note card, presumably to the undertaker, that the tie knot should be of the Windsor style. The movie has awakened in me an interest in gold cufflinks, something that the main character wears in several scenes. If Santa happens to be reading this post...

In one of the books Bond identifies a dodgy character by the fact that he was wearing a Windsor knot ...

It betrays vanity.

So were the guys if any decked out in Tom Ford? From the one trailer I saw it didn't really look or scream like they were.

The movie is set in 1962 and the clothing was consistent with that era. Tom Ford was credited with the clothing, but it bears no relation to what he's selling today.

I saw the film last night and noticed that none of the clothing had the Tom Ford look. The suits were monochrome and very much in line with the era. Still a good looking film.

I saw Tom Ford on Jimmy Fallon a couple of weeks ago promoting this movie. Both were dressed in Tom Ford, in identical styles: SBPL, ticket pocket, forget how many buttons. The clothes don't look good moving in real life, even on Ford, but perhaps my Drapist bias is showing here. Ford himself struck a weird chord, and seems affected, but I can't quite put my finger on why.

Perhaps you should vote 'bad' in Matt's homosexuality poll.
