Somewhat on the same theme as my previous watch posts...curious as to what brand/style/model you would have as a do everything/go everywhere watch and still look good...

Personally it would have to be "nice", preferably water resistant to a reasonable depth, not cost a fortune to maintain, and durable....

My "favorite brands" are many, but of them only a few make pieces I feel are verisitle enough for everything and anything...

Just curious as to what everyone else would pick before saying what brands/pieces I feel would fit the bill, thanks

I've really wanted a Stowa Antea Kleine Segunde for a while. If you could switch between brown and black straps I think it could work for just about any situation.

I think an Omega Aqua Terra would meet this criteria. It's a sporty watch on the bracelet and dresses up well on a gator/croc/leather strap.

this concept does not compute with me, like the 'if you have only one pair of shoes to wear' question

I have had this for more than 20 years and it serves that function pretty well.

I have probably worn it every day for eight or nine months. I slipped it off at a black-tie event because I thought it looked odd, but that is the only time I can think it looked really bad. It isn't ideal for everything, but if you are lazy, as I often am, it works well enough.

God, I hate "gadgety" watches...

Wristwatches are just like neckties: the vast majority of them that are on the market, including those from top-end suppliers, are incredibly revolting.

Watches, like ties, should be a place to practice minimalism. I've never seen an aesthetically winning watch that wasn't minimal in design. Instead, so many men reach for the opposite effect, and indulge in bold, gaudy excess. Just as with the bright "electric" necktie, they choose features that demonstrate all the sophistication of a Boy Scout. The overly large dial-case, all those extra numbers on the rim of the dial, the muscular metal strap... this style is the SUV of watches.

I would tend to agree but Dopey's watch isn't like that. It's a plain divers watch and that's A-OK in my book.

Hamilton Jazzmaster Viewmatic, probably with non-leather bracelet if it's my only watch, or get a black strap to switch out. I've been eyeing this watch forever.
