Doorman inquired about my style. How do I break it to him?

High Society - your posts continue to be the most obnoxious things I've ever had to read in my entire life...just for the record. I promise, Style is not bragging about why people can't afford the things you can.

How do I break it to him? That he cannot afford Purple Label? Should I give a cheaper alternative and lie and suggest him some Tom Ford or Borrelli?

How convenient; like in a movie.

You seem to think you're flashy and rich; tell him what it is, how much you like it, and then buy him one. Call the store and tell them he'll be in to buy a RLPL, and to put it on your tab.

I love this guy!

I don't think it's manouche though, manouche was more sophisticated and interesting, this guy is just a typical simpleton with no imagination.

And obviously someone out of touch with reality - RLPL + bentley + doorman building in NYC on a $345K? Don't make me laugh.

Another reason NYC is perhaps the most overrated thing in America.

It's like being an actor on a TV series like Seinfeld or Cheers. Your next roles and shows just come up short, you won't repeat with the same success. The smart ones call it quits.

I used to own an apartment in a prewar building in the Upper East Side until 2005, and I had the best staffs in my building. From doormen to handymen and a great concierge. The concierge was commuting to the building from north of Westchester in his Merc, so he must be making enough money to maintain that type of lifestyle(my wife just spoke to him yesterday and all is well with him) God I miss living there. I chattet with everybody in the building all the time. There was one real Billionaire resident in the building, part owner of a prominent boutique investment bank. But she never went for flashy Bentleys or Rolls. She always had the S500. She was very classy. I hope she is still around.

If you exclude kids and a wife/significant other/mistress, this lifestyle might be possible on 345k with enough set aside for a modest retirement. If you plan on owning any apartment larger than 3Br below 125th St. and/or have more than 1 kid in private school, you can forget about the Bentley and start liking basic Brooks Brothers.

$345k/year? Freakin' amateur. you're a goldfish trying to swim in the ocean. I don't make that much, but then again, I'm not obnoxious like you are and trying to be bigger than I really am.

Why do I have the sense that this thread is populated with multiple sock puppets, none of whom are Ernest?

Anyone else read that and think:

"You see this watch? You see this watch? That watch costs more than your car. I made 970,000 dollars last year, how much you make? You see pal, that's who I am, and you're nothing. Nice guy? I don't give a ****. Good father. **** you, go home and play with your kids. You want to work here, close. You think this is abuse? You think this is abuse, you cock-sucker. You can't take this, how can you take the abuse you get on a sit. If you don't like it, leave. I can go out there tonight, the materials you got, make myself 15,000 dollars. Tonight. In two hours. Can you? Can you?"
