Mahon's is probably not as complex to make as mine was but it is interesting that he veered from the curved one that A&S apparently exalts.

I didn't need to enlarge the photo to see the curve. Concordia is notoriously as blind as Mr. Magoo, however.

To know whether the complexity of the traditional sleeve cuff is as hard to make as yours, we would have to have a clear explanation of how yours is made. I have asked and asked, but you have not obliged.

And you continue to dodge the other, more important points: the cut through button, the closure of the sleeve vent, and the "slapped on" nature of your cuff. What gives?

Come on. If I am so dumb, so rote, so hidebound, so slavish, so tasteless, so utterly inferior to you in every way, it should be childsplay for you to crush me in a fair fight.

So why don't you?

I went through a lot of history books and plates and pattern books this evening, and did indeed find a few pre-WWI examples of sleeve cuffs, but all of them on sports clothing. No lounge/sack suits. And none of them looked like FNB's. Not dispositive, I realize.

Then again, he more or less said that his style was invented by two guys in NY in the '50s, so it was unlikely I was going to find much more than I found.

He's talking about the carpet.

Actually, I have two projects with my guy that incorporate a suggestion from you.

It's not the cuffs, though.

Maybe he meant the west 50s.

FNB's ugly cuff is the only correct and stylish way to make sleeve cuffs. The fact that it is ugly and no one else does it this way is only proof of its refinement. Sort of like how it's the smelliest cheeses that three or four cheese aficionados like the most.

Actually, I have sympathy with the cheese buffs to some extent, but FNB is -- as usual -- full of it.

1) FNB posts his weird cuffs
2) Manton says it's not the way it's supposed to be done
3) FNB says it requires more work hence is better and shows some pics from the stone age having similar cuffs
4) **** hits the fan
5) Someone posts an ugly cuff
6) The honourable R.J. Man from Man, Bear, Pig and ASS enters the fray
7) I think most of these suits are ugly so who cares how people wore their ugly in the 30s

I skipped most of the discussion but that's my take on it

OK. I've seen Will's cuffs in person. I told him that I didn't really like them much. I like them more than the other version.

Basically, you wear a silk black shirt, black shirt, black shoes, and spike your hair every day. Is that about right?

Not a dig. I know you get more @$$ than I do.
