I don't understand either. As an old hip hop fan, I find that a majority of her rhymes are gibberish. However, with the dearth of credible hip hop artists on the market (or at least being marketed); it seems this is what the executives are pushing. And Trey Songz is just terrible. He butchered Purple Rain at the BET Awards and Prince looked like he wanted to rush the stage and b*$ch slap him.

What's wrong with you guys? Big booty, big DS lips, claimed she was bi for about 45 minutes. Its pop-rap, which most rap is turning into these days. I don't think she's that good, but when you're hitching a ride on the Drake/Lil' Wayne gravy train you have to make yourself stand out as much as possible. I don't see anyone else from the Young Money Millionaires doing anything.

Sorry to be a buzzkill. I just like my music with a little more substance. That was the best thing about the Soul Train Awards last night, they didn't let any of those clowns near the stage. They had REAL artists performing.

And she will probably wish she had the longevity. Fact is, these artists are here today and gone next year. However, I think real artists develop a following long past the expiration date of hot albums. Seriously, aside from Jay Z or Eminem- most artists nowadays fizzle after 3-4 albums. And they would be lucky to make it that far. Something tells me Nicki Minaj won't. However, groups like Frankie Beverly & Maze will still be doing shows to devoted fans who enjoy real musicians who write music and play instruments. Just saying.

Isn't this apples and oranges? There was a show on VH1 not too long ago called Bands Reunited. They got Information Society back together (or so they thought) and people came all the way up from Brazil to see the show, you'll always have some following. Make as much money as possible in the 3-4 albums (& tours because that's where the real money is) while you can. Having mass appeal makes that so much easier.

My whole point is at least the Soul Train Awards gave some airtime to artists that rarely get mainstream play. So, are these REAL artists jealous of Nicki Minaj's fan count. Probably not since they have their own loyal following. I like what Janelle Monae said last night, we are not a monolithic group of people who only party, drink, or whatever. But back to the original point...Minaj is garbage. Just my opinion. I do know folks like her though.
