I agree with you, but then again I was taught to respect my elders.
I don't think it is either. I just think he wore it well for what it is.
I'm wearing gray on gray with brown boots, in homage to the Asian dude that got the mixed feedback in the Sartorialist thread. My jacket is not as good as his, and I'm not as low-contrast. I should have worn my darker gray flannels.
I'm warming up to this but still can't see how you can survive all the stoning from bystanders you must received when wearing it.
When I saw him wearing it recently I was surprised at how toned down it seemed in real life. Granted, it was in the evening and not on a sunny day, but I thought for sure I'd think it would be way over the top.
