06 Loring Close Pepe Vineyard. Drinking well, going to age the other two a couple of years. Loring has a very distinctive label:

Did some playing around with various cocktails last night. Made my first Corpse Reviver. Wish I could remember all my tweaks.

I haven't had it before, it's hard to find around here. But they happened to have 2 bottles at the store I usually visit so I picked one up.

And to be honest, I only got it because I know you're a fan.

The Peay is quite nice. Really juicy and vibrant. It is clearly a Cali Pinot, but isn't as light fruit forward as many others that I have tried, a little more floral and a touch of spice. Great balance too, though I'd like little more structure (tannins are very light). Overall I'm impressed.

Glad you enjoyed it. That's the most CA style wine I've had from them, and it's a new bottling. Their single vineyard Scallop Shelf and Pomarium are both much more Burdundian, with a ton of structure and the need to bottle age 5+ years. Their Syrahs are the same.

I'd be interested in their single-vineyard offerings though I doubt I'd be able to get my hands on any locally.

And I must say my experience was altered by 2 things: heat, it's like 78 and humid in my apartment. Cellar temperature is way to cold when it's this hot out, but room temp. did push the alcohol on the nose. I decanted for about 2 hours, though the wine was alive and kicking right upon opening. Absolutely gorgeous nose upon opening. And second, my throat is killing me. I had some lame-ass health drink at Jamba Juice, took a 30 minute nap, and woke up with a monster sore throat. It's really cramping my style at the moment.
