Thanks John. It's my favorite of Hedi Slimane's trio. For some reason, I'm being drawn to his Eau Noire. What do you think of that fragrance?

Today, it's going to be Guerlain's Mitsouko! A classic chypre scent.

For a Saturday, it's Gianfranco Ferre's Man. Very 80's but elegant and IMO classic.

Today: Bel Ami

But I got samples this afternoon of Varvatos vintage, Gucci by Gucci, and ehhhh, something else. Oh, I Am King. And I also tried BR Black Walnut (nice!) and Cordovan (not so much)

Left arm: Varvatos Vintage
Right arm: I Am King

Neither suck thus far, but neither are knocking my socks off, either.

Both were better than I'd expected.

How do you like that one? I've heard so many conflicting opinions of this.

It's nothing like L'Air du Desert Marocain. Lonestar Memories I find very dry and one dimensional.

hmmm. That could be good or bad.

Today: Varvatos Vintage, a second wearing. It starts off well enough but into the heart there's a big honking red berry note. Nothing vintage about a red berry note. Weird.

Tuscany today. It's been a while since I wore this and I like it more than I remember.

Smelled some of this for the first time today and it knocked my socks off. My initial impression was just 'woah, oranges!' but there is so much complexity beneath that once the top notes fade that I couldn't get enough (even though the citrus lasts). I love that it smells totally different from anything I've ever tried. Might have to buy a bottle.

I've been using a sampler of John Varvatos Vintage all week and while it's pleasant, it's nothing special. Smells like cologne, full stop.
