HUGE earthquake in southern california just now

I don't mean to be calous, but 5.8 is not huge, and it's about two orders of magnitude south of "the big one."

We felt it in Santa Barbara, and it was centered near Claremont, over 120 miles away. It's big, but nowhere near as big as Northridge, for example. I hope no one was seriously hurt.

I was in West L.A. and it was not THAT big, but I come from Japan where a 5.8 is a common occurrence.

Several people around us were actually screaming for their lives

5.8 is really nothing.

I personally experience the Northridge earthquake, the last "bigger" one in California.
