Why does one pair of AE's hurt my toes?

I bought a pair of Allen Edmonds Park Avenue in 10.5D. They were comfortable. A few months later I bought the AE Mcallister in 10.5D to rotate with the PA. They're both on the 5 last. Several months have gone by and while the Mcallister seems to fit the same when you put it on, I find that it rubs the outside of my small toe on both feet, enough to where it hurts at the end of the day. I've indicated the point in the attached photo. If I look inside the shoe, I can see a wear mark on the leather where my toe is. I assumed that the same size on the same last should fit the same. This has been going on for several months so I don't think it's an issue of breaking in.

Is there anything I can do about this short of getting rid of the Mcallister? Is it possible to stretch out just that small portion of the shoe? The rest of it fits fine.
