Hello.
I have a pair of brown leather Red Wings 914 8-inch Gore-Tex work boots, and have cleaned and conditioned them yesterday for the first time.
I used about 1/2 tsp of Meltonian saddle soap dissolved in about 1/8 cup of water, apply with a thin gym sock, and then wiped away with a different sock of the same type. I applied the soap in sections, and then wiped away soon after so that the soap never had a chance to dry at all.
After this, I applied Red Wings Naturseal Waterproofing and Conditioner as directed on the bottom, using the swab that is attached to the lid of the bottle.
I've then let them dry on a shoe rack for 24 hours, and there is a white film scattered about the surface of the leather, probably covering 20% - 30% of the surface.
Is this white film normal, or did I do something wrong?
I bought these boots brand new a little over a month ago, and this is my first time ever doing any type of care for leather.
Thank you in advance for any help.
