looking for your updates. keep us informed.

I think I've posted elsewhere that the shoes did arrive, about a year after ordering. (Mr Balint died last spring, and it took a while to sort things out.)

They fit marvellously well, especially in the soles. Uppers are shaped with a different set of priorities than Cleverley, but are very elegant.

I was also asked to send back photos-- front, back, side, and top, just so they can see if there are any issues they can detect. I doubt there are problems, but that should smoke them out.

hmmh, how to put it. a first order should be picked up in person. it's a sign of respect.

i do not doubt that you're experienced enough to coordinate it long distance, but that's you. at the end it worked out and i'm glad that another one found his way to a maker outside of london.

walk on

Cleverley molds to the foot, chipping away all of the non-essentials. The wide part of my foot is very far forward, so they make me fairly round toes and the bit under the arch is very much carved away. By contrast, Balint's Norwegers are quite straight on the inside edge and the toe is maybe 3 or 4mm longer than Cleverley's typical model. The whole visual center of gravity appears to be much further forward than on the Cleverleys. They're only a little longer but when I put them on they threaten to be much longer.

Cleverleys are more comfortable to put on and wear about the house-- the Balints come into their glory after a ton of walking around.

Respect --- and a plane ticket and maybe 4 days of being out of sync with my home. Obviously they would have preferred to see me personally, but life goes on and we all have to adjust.
