Presumably because they're sold out in that size.
I understand that. My point is if you're a large business that is selling a shoe under your own brand name you should facilitate ordering the correct size, not just having an 'oops we're out too bad mentality'.

I'm sure every retailer on the planet would like to be able to perfectly anticipate demand and stock exactly the number of items needed. That does not mean it's possible. And in the real world where it can't be perfectly predicted, they make guesses based on forecasts within a certain margin of error. It is not to their advantage to be stuck with excess inventory to be sold at a loss or not sold at all.

BB is worse than most when it comes to anticipating demand. That is to say they consistently understock common sizes. Whether this is a strategic decision or poor planning is unknown to me. What I can say is that it pushes me in the direction of RL and other BB competitors who consistently do have the sizes I am looking for.

I think traditionally we've said Brooks Brothers shell accessories were made from Japanese shell.
Thanks. I ordered it today and will report back.

Just ordered the new old OCBD. I was going to order the old version due to cost but my size wasn't availabe. I think they're phasing the old version out. The old version Milano fits me perfectly and I'm hoping the new one fits the same. No way I'd pay retail but took advantage of the corporate sale today. We'll see.

How come they don't offer shoes in all commonly available sizes/widths? They don't carry what I'm looking for in 8.5 E, which IMO isn't a weird sizing.

BB online inventory does not include inventory at stores. Call 346 or your local store and they can search all store inventory for your size.

I tried on the new old OCBD and actually liked it, amazingly. I definitely will size down in the neck if I buy one, because it seemed like they did not reduce the collar measurement when they removed the lining, so it fit loose (and I don't think it would shrink enough). But besides the lack of lining in the collar and cuff (and placket! that was a nice surprise), they changed the fabric, and I liked it. It was thinner (possibly bad) but seemed softer and nicer, with the weave appearing larger (not as large as royal oxford but larger). Interested what others think about it.

I have one of the new OCBDs. The roll is definitely better than before--I don't find the collar to be larger, though. I'm not as crazy about the fabric. As others have mentioned, it's fairly thin. I think I prefer the Kamakura.

I may be in the minority, but I wasn't a big fan of that thick, starchy feeling of the old one. With an undershirt, it is tough (hot) to wear them on summer days. I'll probably order one of those thin fabric ones, just to try it out.

I definitely plan to try the new OCBDs. Good move by BB to bring back the old, unlined collar. Anyone have pics of it being worn? Curious about the collar roll, both with and without a tie.

But that $140 price tag... ouch. I also don't like the fact that the new shirts don't have a pocket.

Picked up the new OCBD during the sale. Love the new collar, but I immediately noticed the thinner fabric. I'm going to give it a few months of wears and washes before deciding if I'm going to buy another.

I actually prefer the collar. The price tag is at least partially a result of the US manufacturing.
