Get a TV. Just because you don't enjoy watching it, it doesn't mean others don't. I don't have cable but I have a TV and loaded my AppleTV with 400+ movies that I haven't watched. A piano is another idea, since it is always entertaining for others and relaxing for yourself in ways a bunch of amps, big speakers and your 'sweet ass' DJ set isn't.

Ya, a heavy, 5 figure instrument that neither he nor probably anyone he knows how to play, is the perfect use of space!

Anyway, it's a dumb OP. Fill the space with stuff you enjoy. If that's an audio system, fine.

Are you angry because his place is likely over ground?

No.

Obviously everyone has different housing/social assumptions, but to me the living room is where you socialize with guests and/or relax yourself. If the tv plays a big part in either of those activities, I guess the suggestion is fine. But if the most enjoyable way to spend time with someone is to turn on the tv when they're around, I'm probably not going to be too eager to invite them over in the first place.

Stripper pole. Hire a stripper when you have guests over. Or if you're athletic and flexible enough...

I have no TV at all. Haven't had one for two years now.

A nice audio system, however, is ideal.

I have never owned a TV in my life. If you have the space, put up a hammock near a window or a porch swing.
