I don't remember being all that impressed maybe I need to see that again. But I love the scene with Clive Owen and Natalie Portman:

Watched Apocalypse Now for the first time. What a fantastic and intense movie. Plan to watch Full Metal Jacket next week.

this HBO on demand is very addicting.

my wife and I were TV surfing and saw that Silence of the Lambs was on (but halfway through)... so I checked HBO on demand and it was available.

The movie is still awesome especially now that they remastered it into HD formats (for sounds too).

I can't believe that the Jame Gumb character is also the same guy from Monk.

also although its a total suspense movie Buffalo Bill does provide some huge laugh out loud moments [when you already know the contex] with the "is she a great big fat person" "it rubs the lotion on its skin" " it places the lotion in the basket" damn Ted Levine has some acting range.

also there are just pure cinematic- awesomeness scenes that date it but actually make it better - like the autopsy scene in the mortuary with the local PD, coroner, mortician, a weird/fax conference call telex machine, and the polaroid camera that makes the huge flash/recharge sounds. nowdays it would just be a digital camera, guy on a cellphone and instant uploading of the info through wifi and a computer.

Redux or regular? I actually thought the redux was worth the 4.5 hours or whatever it was; thought the added story helped you get even more immersed.

I was lucky enough to see the original ending when it came out. As best as I recall it was only NY, LA and TO that had the idol fade-to-black creditless ending. Anyway, I was definitely an Apocalypse Now fan over The Deer Hunter when they came out. However, I happened to catch TDH last night and I've completely changed my mind.

The long long wedding scene where the action unfolds naturally and sucks you in. The intensity of the roulette scene had me riveted to the TV until 2:30.

Well worth a fresh look.
