I was wasting time at the Robb Report site and came across this quote from bespoke tie maker...er...neck apparel maker John Kochis:
Okay, if I see someone with a full windsor "they have it all together" doesn't spring to mind. The Duke certainly wore a four-in-hand (I generally use a Prince Albert/Victoria knot, actually, for a bit more knot thickness and length). And an off-center dimple may be chosen for a bit of insouciance. I might think someone with a perfect knot and dimple is simply OCD, not "impeccable". Pardon my rant. Now back to your regularly scheduled forum."A man reveals so much about his personality by the tie he chooses to wear and how he knots it," says Kochis, a 23-year retail veteran of Barneys New York and Charivari, who launched his signature neckwear collection in 1989. "He's either a leader or a follower, traditional or contemporary, meticulous or disorganized." What does the knot reveal? "If a man wears a spread collar with a four-in-hand knot, I know he doesn't have it all together. If the dimple is off-center he's almost there. And if the knot is neat and the dimple is centered, I know he's impeccable."
