Had an Improved Tequila Cocktail yesterday. I used white tequila, but wasn't really sure. It was ok.

Today, I tried Lucien Gaudins with 2:1:1:1 gin:vermouth:Campari:Cointreau (in my case just triple sec). I used Dolin dry, Dolin blanc and Carpano Antica. The dry and blanc were ok. Blanc too sweet. though CA didn't work with the Cointreau/triple sec. Negroni much better! Not a fan of this one.

^ that sounds interesting... though kinda surprised you didn't like it so much. I'm a fan of Negronis as well. Right now... Moscow Mule with Tanqueray Vodka, Stirrings Ginger liqueur, Stirrings Lime Margarita Mix and Reed's Extra Ginger Beer!

Yummy chilean wine. Santa Rita's Medalla Real Carmenere 2010. Cost me about 8 bucks. Tastes pretty damn good. Can't really go wrong with wines here.

Haven't tried wines from those wineries yet. It's actually tough to find wine that costs more than around 30 USD. I've tried many different wines from the Tarapaca region and of course many by Concha y Toro.

Forty Creek Barrel Select. While it's ok, probably won't be getting another bottle. As far as Canadian whisky, I guess I was expecting it to be on the level of the Confederation Oak Reserve or the Double Barrel, both of which are excellent and can hold their own against Wiser's 18 & Legacy, but it's not. It's closer to, but better than, regular Canadian Club. A good entry point for Canadian whisky, but not my cup of tea. A little too much of the typical Canadian whisky corn syrupy-ness, and not enough depth or character.

Agree that 40 Creek is way over hyped. I could barely finished the bottle I bought and find just Wiser's Deluxe more than a match for any 40 Creek bottling.

White Russian. Then I wanted to make something with ginger ale. I used the last of my Finlandia's in the White Russian, so I didn't have vodka for a Moscow Mule. I made a London Buck. 20cl Thomas Henry Giner Ale (now called "Spicy Ginger" because it's not an ale -- literally), 5cl Beefeater, 2cl lemon juice. Quite good!
