Well, I am not sure how it will turn out, but I do want to give it a shot. I also have acquired some mahogany ostrich leather to make a watch band to match my scotch grain Alden LWBs. I have a higher level of confidence in that project. The ostricj is thinner and earier to handle than the double thickness of the brogue from the shoes.

Can’t wait to see that too. I love watches but I can’t afford that hobby so I depend on inheriting them. This is a Missoni Sport watch with a cigar shell strap. Missoni is an Italian designer. I’m not sure who actually made the watch but every time I get the battery changed the watch repair guy tells me that the movement is amazing.

Nice looking watch and band. I can't start chasing watches and drop into yet another rabbit hole. I just use an iWatch and build the bands for it. These two in the works will join the alligator band I already made.

A big thank you to @eTrojan for his kind donation and delivery of a pair of Florsheim 93602 shoes I shall use in an attempt to make a wingtip watch band. I started to disassemble the sections I would use for the band and it is the first time I have been inside the classic WTB. I was very impressed with the construction. Double thread sewing, thick cashmere calf leather and a large heel cup. The cup extended to cover the throat of the shoe on the inside edge of the shoe. It is my totally uneducated opinion that this extra support is one of the things that helps support this section of the shoe and prevents some of the bowing problems seen in some other shoes. Bottom line is that the construction, to me, is just very high quality.

Does anyone have experience removing green corrosion from shoelace eyelets? Can it just be brushed off?
Looking at this pair, but wondering if the eyelets would be a bigger problem than I'm ready to deal with.

If I had them, I would start off trying to brush them out with a stiff brush, such as a pig bristle and go from there.
My 93605s had a fair bit, and it came out during the restoration. I think the mink oil in the renovateur has kept it at bay (and occasional wearing/brushing) since then.

Thank you both. I'll keep that in mind.

Someone else bought these boots while I was thinking about it. Not terribly sad, though. I was curious about the quality and thought the stitching was interesting.

FYI, they were Yuketen Daniel's wingtip boots. Japanese brand, Horween shell cordovan, made in Mexico. Not vintage, but no longer made as of about 5 or so years ago(?).

Please forgive the slightly off topic post but the movement in that watch is probably a Swiss ETA 251.262 that has 27 jewels. It is one of the better quartz watch movements out there and is usually very accurate with a long battery life. I can't say I have ever heard of a Missoni watch though. I hope that you can wear it in good health.

Thanks for that inform the battery life is indeed long and I wear it several time a week. Thanks again.

Florsheim 93644s are on eBay in my size. @davidVC says these are a 1960s model and rare. They are described as “bookbinder bourbon.” This the “bookbinder” mean they are CG? The color is fantastic. Obviously I don’t need them (or so I?) but if I can get a good deal I’d consider pulling the trigger. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/124010665732 View attachment 1298517

They look great. Book binder is similar to CG. I have a pair (different model of Florsheim) and the BB is high quality. Very water resistant so I got Vibram Eton soles and use them as rain shoes.

You most definitely need to buy them. You are duty bound.

Florsheim 93644 today as I wait in my Dr’s Office. These are fast becoming some of my favorite shoes. Gloriously comfortable with a solid double sole. They are 1 size large, but a pedag insert makes them fit perfectly. I could wear these for days. CG, but very soft. The best $6 I may have ever spent.

I had a pair that I eventually moved for poor fit but they are really kickass shoes.

Also, I finished my challenge shoes that I gave up on for the 2019 restoration. Changed phones and lost my original pictures of the busted dark brown 93602s. There are some pics from the process on page 1477. My daughter wanted Christmas Florsheims so this is where they ended up. Pretty pleased with the sole and heels.
Hopefully 2020 will SLOW DOWN and I will have hobby time again. Happy Weekend Gents!

I picked up this pair of Johnston & Murphy Optima Uppingham in antique brown size 11 for $5.99.

I want to practice rehab the shoes. Any suggestions where to start? So, cleaned with saddle soup. Then Lexol All Leather Condition.
