Earlier this week, I broke out the Johnston & Murphy monkstraps. Skinny shoes, skinny suit, skinny tie.

Got these vintange Canadian Chelsea boots from sir Jiquea. Love it. A cool style and great fit. Pitched (term?) heel with spur insert. Maybe I have to find some spurs to attach to the back heel.

Edit with nicer spur heel pictures from @Jiquea.

wow NOS shoes. Sadly, these shoes were made for Richard Tolbert. I have tried his shoes on before and we are NOT the same size. He has or had much lower foot volume. Now I do know that they would fit @madhat perfectly as he has his old alligator cap toes already and they fit like a glove.

Yeah, I think they fit nicely into @madhat eclectic collections of shoes and trousers.

The triple leather soled, in cherry red, iconic John McHale.

The topy, lulu tips, and rubber heels make them wearable. The original leather heels that had two rows of nails, made v-cleats seem like mountain climbing shoes. I guess I don’t enjoy the invigourating walk like @davidVC .

Wishing you all a wonderful Friday the 13th that also has a full moon.

Does anyone have experience removing green corrosion from shoelace eyelets? Can it just be brushed off?
Looking at this pair, but wondering if the eyelets would be a bigger problem than I'm ready to deal with.

My 93605s had a fair bit, and it came out during the restoration. I think the mink oil in the renovateur has kept it at bay (and occasional wearing/brushing) since then.

That’s what I’m thinking. A member of the Facebook vintage shoe group offered the suggestion and had pretty striking results to show for it. Here are pix he posted. He put a sock over the cap and lightened the rest of the boot. I’ll have to wait for a sunny day. There haven’t been many of those lately. View attachment 1297021 View attachment 1297022

A big thank you to @eTrojan for his kind donation and delivery of a pair of Florsheim 93602 shoes I shall use in an attempt to make a wingtip watch band. I started to disassemble the sections I would use for the band and it is the first time I have been inside the classic WTB. I was very impressed with the construction. Double thread sewing, thick cashmere calf leather and a large heel cup. The cup extended to cover the throat of the shoe on the inside edge of the shoe. It is my totally uneducated opinion that this extra support is one of the things that helps support this section of the shoe and prevents some of the bowing problems seen in some other shoes. Bottom line is that the construction, to me, is just very high quality.

So glad you were inspired enough to give this a shot. Can’t wait to see the end product.
I had the same impression when my sons and I dissected some thrashed 93605s. The construction is amazing. It sort of feels like stating the obvious but it really becomes clear when you take them apart.

Well, I am not sure how it will turn out, but I do want to give it a shot. I also have acquired some mahogany ostrich leather to make a watch band to match my scotch grain Alden LWBs. I have a higher level of confidence in that project. The ostricj is thinner and earier to handle than the double thickness of the brogue from the shoes.
