Hey there, Yes as crizzle noted you will need a rebuild if the squeak is coming from the flex point on the sole or arch area. My experience over the last few months:Did you get this sorted? Recently had a pair develop a squeak. Not sure who I would trust on fixing.
1. Reached out to Viberg with videos, they said my foot is too loose in the left boot and to use shoe trees. And to contact stockist I purchased from.
2. Stockist WF was incredibly helpful and on it even though I had purchased during the Winter sale. They agreed boot was certainly not too loose, considering my other foot is smaller and on further review it was squeak at arch/midfoot on left boot only. They reached out to Viberg.
During this time (about a 2 weeks after my trip, squeaking is somewhat reduced and isolated to left boot). Still can cause it easily by flexing boot at angle. Sometimes squeaks on normal walking. Has been on and off like this for months since this time. Frustrating but ??? ok sometimes???
3. Viberg said they are sending die cut insoles to try first to take up some volume.
4. Meantime, I bought a pair of nicks leather insoles, cut to fit to try out. Seemed to do nothing for squeak but improved comfort a tiny bit, they are relatively thin cxl so mold to foot well. Did not seem to lift heel cup out.
5. 2 weeks later - Received insoles from Canada. Wrong insoles. They are the padded Viberg sneaker insoles. Viberg/WF caught this error the day before I received them so would send new die cut insoles as initially planned.
6. 2 weeks later - Received die cut thin leather with sticky bottom insoles from Viberg. Did not change squeak timing/frequency. These insoles are nice as a pattern, but honestly I preferred the Nicks as they are trim to fit, slightly thicker (but not too thick) leather and easily removable.
7. 2 weeks later - Reach back out to WF and (1 week later) - offered Rebuild at Bakers (I assume this would be for both boots). Told 4-6 month wait or $150 credit. At this point I just opted for the credit. End of saga. Squeak still exists and is frustrating since the leather and fit are awesome. But I still wear them heavily so can't be too bad right? I will resell these down the line. WF has been incredible with communication and willingness to support and service.
During the last 3-4 months I have bought and traded a 0.5 size down in the same last (1035) and 2030. Decided 2030 works as a dress shoe but vertical height at my pinky toe is not going to work. 1035 in my current or half size down is fine but much prefer lined boots. Plan: I will re-buy my current boot (slow seller in my sizes) at a fall sale OR buy full price 2040 and if I don't like it, return for 1035 from .com.
