I've given up on flannel due to the inconsistencies and limited amounts of wear I get before ruining the trousers.

Basically I bought 2 pairs of each color (light and dark gray, tan and fawn) and wear them intermittently. I agree on the Cavalry Twills, however they are definitely not as warm which is a real factor for me.

I'll send them in eventually to see if they can be patched up but given the amount of rotation between the flannel trousers I thought they would've last longer.

Do you even squat, bro?

(As a former cyclist myself, I know the answer to this question already)
Somewhere back in the running threak I asked what people were doing about chafing of their thighs. One person suggested I lose weight. That was the first time I was body shamed.

Thus endeth my cool story, bro.

Get the London Lounge ones. Flannelly finish, and something like 22oz!

Best summer cloth from that era, IMO, was the Bahama cloth from Wain Shiel. It had body, tailored well, wrinkles hung out, excellent selection of colors and patterns. Cloth was supple and draped really well for a light weight Panama weave. Rangoon was stiff by comparison and uncomfortable to wear. I know everyone loved /loves it, I didn't care for it.
Chris - I'm wondering if you've handled any of those reruns of Rangoon that were done in the last few years. We have a few lengths here and it feels silkier, less stiff and looks more comfortable than a classic Fresco. Was the old stuff stiff like Fresco?

My favorite CM suit in the world starting showing wear in the crotch. Brooks Brothers Golden Fleece, MTM, Fitzgerald fit, in a mid-gray VBC fabric. It's lasted a decade. Geoffrey Lewis reinforced the inside and used some fabric from the hem to fix the outer part. Worked wonderfully. Suit saved.

They did the same thing for me last year with my favorite Zegna blue flannel pants I wear constantly in the winter. Adds a few seasons at least.

Have you tried Morgan Blue? They have two versions, a creme and a sort of solid. It was my go to back in my cycling days when I didnt want to pay for Assos creme.

I felt some LL cloth made up. Wearing such a suit probably provides a good workout for one's shoulder muscles. Can't imagine wearing anything that heavy. The tailor felt the same way.

@gdl203

Have not seen any of the recent cloth but assumed it was being made up to match the character of the original cloth. Comparison would be the stiff feel of Harrisons Frontier cloth to H&S Crispaire.

Rangoon was always positioned as a slightly sturdier sibling of Lesser 8/9oz. The new ones are seem to be still in that category. Tropical weight Frontier is not a bad way to think if it.

I've never handled the original Rangoon, but a modern "remake" I've got is pretty soft, and is (from memory) almost indistinguishable from cloth in Smith's Finmeresco bunch. Maybe I'm not very sensitive to the nuances, though.

I'm way behind here, but if you're stopping by one tailor's shop to check out fabric swatches that you'll order from a different tailor, at least have the depraved sense of humor to also clog the toilet while you're there.

My girlfriend is going to take my body measurements
Nice.
