Other 'suggestions' for Firenze:
Santa Maria Novella
Lorenzo Villoresi for a bespoke fragrance.

Firenze SMN is my favourite railway station. When I found out it was built under Il Duce my enthusiasm wasn't diluted.
In particular check the clock in the wood panelled restaurant and the one outside the station.
The concourse-long daylight-lit ceiling panels create a very interseting atmosphere as the sun is making its presence felt at either end of the day.
The ticket hall is terrific too.

If you find something you like in the leather market feel free to haggle over the price a bit. I bought a couple briefcases for less than the tagged price of one.

I'm going over to Florence, paris and monaco in a few weeks and found the info on this thread very helpful also.

I can't connect to the stefanobranchini.com site in the 'Comprehensive high end shoe' list. Is the branchini.net site (I posted yesterday) the same guy? If so, he's based in Bologna, an hour from Florence.

A masterpiece of rationalist archictecture. As an interesting anecdote, when they asked Frank Lloyd Wright if he could keep standing only one building in the world, he chose the Santa Maria Novella train station.

I picked up these Sutor Mantellassi wing tip brogues yesterday at half price at the Florence store. It's worth a visit in this (late) sales period for some good discounts.
Also, at La Rinascente (the classier of the two department stores in the city, the other being COIN) has a fair range of Cornelliani in (not discounted - new season stuff) and there are some own brand shirts going for 39euros.

Anyone ever check out "Boggi" as listed on the sartorialists website?

Britalian would it be inappropriate to ask what those SM wingtips ran you??

There have been a couple of previous threads on Boggi - the consensus is attractive (yet conservative) styling, mediocre quality - sort of an Italian version of BB.

Not at all. I was planning on getting some C&Js bench grades when back in the UK in May but in the sales these came to about the same price : 375euros.
I think there's slightly better range in the Florence store than in the Bologna one. I assume the Milan store has the best choice, though.
