They are incredible. The farmers markets in Santa Barbara are great. Found some of the nicest asparagus I've ever seen/eaten. Also, the artichokes right now are really beautiful, the peas and favas too.

Santa Barbara. Is there a good place to buy spot prawns, or are they a seasonal thing.

try an asian market. the guy i buy from in newport is still doing spiny lobster, i think. he'll switch over in a month or so.

I got one of those de Buyer pans a few months back, and strangely have not been able to get a good seasoning on it. Have never had this much trouble seasoning a pan--cast iron, wok, none of them have given me so much grief.

The thing does brown steaks, chops, etc like you wouldn't believe. But I can't cook anything that might stick (fish, eggs, etc) in it at all.

Tempted to scour it down to raw steel and start over.

Did you try flaxseed oil?
