Speaking of Schott, and this is adjacent only in spirit but here's a BNWT moto I bought for my son as a gift last year that he just wasn't into. Harder to find darker brown colorway, size medium. I'm a 40" chest with 18.5" shoulders, wear 42 in James Grose, 50 in TTS Valstar jackets. I wear a large in a lot of knits, etc. and this fits me fine (see fit pic), but might work even better for a 38.

Tagged Size 48, but I'm usually a 50 (33inch waist) and these well for me. Full, but not wide through the legs so these are super comfortable.
Elastic waist is in the back so these present as more formal if you want them to.

They measure 17 across the waist laying flat and 18 if you stretch them out (elastic waist is in the back). With the drawstring pulled in and tied they probably go down up to a full inch (so 16") if you needed them to.

Inseam is 31 or 31.5
