Is Vass sizing pretty straightforward? I'm a 15D in US dress shoe sizing, and someone from Mehra said that I should order an EU 48 in Vass. Is this accurate?

I'll say no, because nothing in online sizing is ever straightforward. What brands/lasts are you a 15D in?

15D in AE 5 last fits perfect.

If you're a true D then 48 in F last is probably a good start. I haven't bought AEs in a while to remember how all the lasts fit though.

Thanks for the info. I am a true D width. Pretty much all AE lasts fit me well. The only shoes I’ve recently purchased which were a bit snug width-wise were on the Mermin Elton last in a 14E.

On another note, what do SF members think about these two models? I'm leaning toward either of these in brown calf with burgundy or reddish brown upper in suede or scotchgrain.

While certainly a different route design wise, your post reminded me that it had been a little bit since I wore my French oxfords... I’m a fan of the design. Can be a bit more formal design (hence why I went black with them), but I am a big fan of that style overall. Go for it!

In terms of color, I always struggle a bit to visualize the different suede colors and how they match up with the calf colors. I think your pallet seems reasonable. Last mix I got was brown museum with dark brown suede. A bit more understated, but whatever you think will matching your style best and get the most wear!

I have that top pair but in black calf and black suede on the U last. I wear it to social functions at night. I'm very happy with the purchase.

Unfortunately I won’t be able to buy these anyway since Vass doesn’t make shoes in my size. They would probably be great for social functions though.

I’ve recently inquired about Vass MTO, and apparently they don’t.
