Disco strings Friday. Nice phasing on this mix on this one. Bass line, stings, and the processing drive this one. Bubble gum lyrics but a great track. I'd see it in the dollar bin at record shops ages ago. Celi Bee and the Buzzy bunch.

Legend has it that when his record label wanted him to record a Superman track to cash in on the movie the jazz-fusion flute man Herbie Mann decided against covering the main Superman theme from the movie as everyone else was going to do that. He picked the Buzzy Bunch disco track to cover instead. It's the grit and proto-electro bits that draw me to the original more raw and nightclub dance floor feeling.

Another super track below the fold

Disco Strings Friday. A lush Gamble and Huff song. The Jones Girls "Dance turned into a Romance". Strings lay back in the mix and don't fight with the vocal layers. The track builds into nice groove. Super smooth.

Friday disco strings. Ok. It's just a harp. But a classic.
Idris Mohamed, "could heaven ever be like this".

Dave Mathew's was the composer. The other one.
The version of "East side Lady" on this LP is great.

Friday disco strings: Aged in Harmony only released a few 45s and disappeared. This one's just a goldilocks tune. Just right.

Friday disco strings. Philly meets Motown. A, for some weird reason, an unreleased project from Jermaine Jackson post Jackson 5. Drums are great on this one and right off the top the track gets right into the groove and then the layers of sweeter production. Nice vibraphone and strings layered into the mix through, but drums are so good.
