This is formal Friday #7, and I only have six dinner jackets that I wear regularly. So, we're on repeat from here on out.
Thanks! My ivory jacket is a from a Holland & Sherry formal bunch. What jacketing did you use? It looks great.
No. You still need a waist covering, unless you're using a DB jacket. But in either case, as @Concordia points out, no one will ever see it.Should I get a silk waistband for my dinner trousers?
Are there any MTM companies that make a good cream dinner jacket? I'm interested in shawl lapel, single breasted, high armholes (one of the reasons I'm reluctant to chance OTC jackets). I would like under $200. If not reasonable how much over that must I go?
I would think the bare minimum for quality MTM would be in the $700-$1000 range. Personally, I wouldn’t trust any place trying to sell OTR for $200, let alone anyone selling a MTM product for that much
id suggest checking out Kent Wang,
Suit Supply, or Spier and Mackay in those price ranges
Fully lined. I have a quarter lined cream dinner jacket. Never again. Lining protects your back from sweat stainsI was thinking if I get a dinner jacket in cream linen I would want it unlined or half lined for coolness, but is that wise or should it be lined to prevent my pants from showing through the lightweight material?

Yeah. The showiness of say the darker trouser against an unlined cream dj doesnt bother me as much. However there is a durability issue. I dance a lot so sweat stains are an issue and formalwear means party clothes...so party in the damn thing man. Also creases faster than lined. The last thing is fabric sticking...say if you have mohair trousers....against an unlined back. Bad comboOh, that is a good consideration
