Just amazing

In my limited experience I find Bonafe makes the best shell boots bar none. Fit can be tricky and sometimes it's difficult to envision final product when you do a GMTO. But once you get your fit right and figure out best configuration, EB's just ridiculously good.

I have flat welt and double leather soles on my color 4 hatchgrain NST boot, and these two combinations really make a difference aesthetically. Especially flat welt. Going forward I'm not adding storm welt unless I'm aiming for a rugged make up.

100% agree here. Their heavy fudging on the flat welt creates enough visual interest

Cross post with the vintage shoe thread.

These are vintage Florsheim Imperial cordovan LWB. NOS. First time in 22 years they ever stepped foot on concrete, and man are they comfortable and beautiful.

X post from Cammina.

I just got my Carmina sneakers back from B Nelson.

I guess they are no longer sneakers anymore since I had them convert the sole to double leather. The original Lactae Hevea sole turned out to be a real disappointment. First off part of it is my fault as I walk on the outside edge of my feet. So I always wear out the sole uneven on the outside edge. Unfortunately the Lactae Hevea being soft amplified this issue where within short time I was almost walking on the sides of the shoes. This actually was deforming the whole shoe body making them unwearable. The other issue I had is the Lactae Hevea is glued on and it was peeling in several locations on the one shoe. So I think they did not put enough glue on the one sole. I was thinking of some other rubberish sole but just went with double leather figuring it's workhorse and holds the shoe in shape for me. Also I see Carmina now lets you pick any sole and even any last for the sneakers now. Not a big fan of the original Calvia last but when they originally came out that was the only option. Under the original Lactae Hevea sole there is rather high stitching I think this is partial cause of the original sole peeling also.

I know this is a Carmina thread but honestly I think the new Allen Edmonds resoleable sneakers are more of a sneaker with that more traditional harder rubber sole and will hold shape better then Lactae Hevea.

I have been happy with the work of B Nelson these shoes were very out of shape. They did a great job of getting the shoes back into shape and converting the soles. I have sent a few pairs to them for resole and all have come back with top of the line workmanship.

I just got a pair of shell cordovan boots and I've never ran into a similar problem with other horse ass pairs. I've treated them regularly and put on two layers of wax polish, but the leather still develops horrible water welts. A single drop is enough. Usually they look like paint has been dropped on top after a winter outing, but I can still buff them to the original great state after wear.

How do I protect the leather from water welts when wax polish isn't enough?

I use Saphir Waterproof spray. That helps some.
